Clinical & Holistic Counseling Modalies

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Using acceptance and mindfulness strategies, ACT helps us access peace, and increase psychological flexibility in place of avoiding painful feelings. ACT helps us identify and live from our values.

  • Aromatherapy / Essential Oils

Aroma has a powerful effect on the amygdala, or the fight/flight system in the brain. Essential oils help to calm, ground, and uplift the human spirit, and can benefit trauma work.

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Drawing upon pillars of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT intends to alleviate distressing thoughts and behaviors through incorporating elements of mindfulness and emotional regulation practices. It’s known for a core tenant, Radical Acceptance.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Through CBT, unhelpful or distorted thoughts and thought patterns (ie: all-or-nothing thinking) are identified, challenged, and replaced with more objective and accurate thoughts to decrease depression, stress and anxiety, and increase confidence, calm and contentment in your life.

  • Emotional Freedom Technique

Sometimes called Tapping, EFT is a calming tool for the mind and body. Tapping on areas of the body (meridians) while stating a phrase about the issue at hand, EFT effectively alleviates the physical intensity of anxiety, stress, PTSD, fear, and more.

  • Enneagram Insight

The Enneagram is a system of nine distinct types of personality believed to have formed in childhood. Learning your Type illuminates one’s ego structure (personality) , habitual behaviors, and needs rooted in that Type’s basic fear and basic desire.

  • Expressive Arts

Through expressive or creative arts, one can access healing, insight, and personal wisdom. Artistic expression takes many forms, from painting and drawing to journaling and collaging and more. There’s no “talent” required for putting pen or brush to paper to see what emerges!

  • EMDR Therapy

Through an eye movement sequence that stimulates both sides of the brain, EMDR helps one heal from traumatic experiences and other distressing life events, releasing an individual from limiting beliefs resulting from the event(s).

  • Inner Child Healing + Parts Work

A method of creating wholeness through accessing deep “parts”, of the Inner Child, of ourselves. Gaining insight, inner wisdom and finding our voice occurs through resolving distressful experiences in our past. “Heal the child (part), and the adult will appear.”oes here

  • Nonviolent Communication (NVC)

Also called Compassionate Communication, Nonviolent Communication, NVC is a framework of language allowing individuals, couples, and groups to navigate conflict and achieve understanding and increased compassion. NVC is significantly helpful in personal and professional relationships.

  • Mindfulness & Breathwork

The practice of witnessing the present moment: sights, sounds, smells, sensations inside and outside the body. Combined with breathwork practices, this is a powerful and practical method for grounding and centering. Most often, it is woven into other therapeutic offerings. “The quality of our life depends on the the quality of our breath.”

  • Yoga Nidra

Called “Yogic Sleep”, Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation that induces a deep calm and renews the mind-body connection. Yoga Nidra complements talk therapy and can be a helpful tool when one is experiencing chronic stress, anxiety, burnout, or insomnia.

Areas of Speciality

  • Situational, chronic, or “trait-based”, anxiety can manifest in a host of ways disruptive to daily functioning. Counseling offers effective coping tools while addressing the root cause of anxiety.

  • Navigating chronic illness can feel weary. Having a safe, supportive space to lighten the emotional load can improve mood, outlook, and relationships.

  • Like chronic illness, living with chronic pain limits one’s capacity to think clearly, live optimistically and experience joy. EMDR and EFT Tapping can address underlying causes of pain, or reduce the intensity of pain.

  • Incorporating one’s values, beliefs in the human spirit or in a Higher Power, can strengthen the healing journey.

  • Whether grieving the loss of a person, experience, pregnancy, or pet, your loss matters and holds dignity. Counseling can help one navigate stages of grief and manage symptoms of anxiety and depression.

  • Heightened sensitivity to sound, smell, touch, taste, and how one takes in new information are just a few hallmark traits of “HSP”. EFT Tapping, Aromatherapy, Yoga Nidra , and mindfulness-based therapist are key modalities for helping HSP’s feel centered and grounded.

  • All life is relationship, and at the heart of all relationships are tender feelings and needs. We develop these in childhood and carry them with us into adulthood. Find ways to be seen and heard, and to see and hear others, with greater love and ease.

  • Post-traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) is the manifestation of an unresolved, traumatic event. Trauma is stored in the body. Using modalities such as EFT Tapping and EMDR can effectively reduce PTSD symptoms and improve mood, daily functioning, relationships.

  • Issues unique to women are compassionately addressed in therapy: hormonal changes/challenges; miscarriage or infertility, pregnancy loss, abortion, post-partum depression, intimacy, assertiveness, burnout, caregiving.
